We have quite a few little pigs at the farm, and they are...little pigs. They love the fresh squash and garden produce, and have been known to sneak out of the fence and get into the squash and apple stash to have a snack several times over. Little pigs are pigs, as it turns out.
I'll admit, they have been awfully cute to watch grow up. If you're interested in a pig, be sure to contact me and let me know. We spent the weekend having a great time at the fiber fair in Hopkins. It is always good to see some of the same faces, both vendors and customers, who love all things wool and fiber. We had a great weekend as far as interest, and my booth got a little disheveled as we pulled out skeins of wool to fill customer pattern requirements. That's a good problem to have! I was also able to speak to several people about spinning who were either new to it (and even tried out my spinning wheel) or who were interested in my wheel. This year we had some bookmarks geared toward knitters and those who love yarn and wool. I love the sense of community that these events have. Not only do you get to see new faces, but you get to connect with friends and encourage each other as well as learn something new!
Can't wait to see you at the next event! We had a wonderful time at our first showing at the Shepherd's Harvest Festival in Minnesota. We met so many great vendors, both in the barn and the buildings, met fiber enthusiasts who had wonderful questions and ideas---and of course, we did a little shopping ourselves. This year's coming challenge from what we learned at the festival? Mastering (or at least understanding) the drop spindle! We did some spinning in our booth and had some watercolors (painted right there in the barn) for folks who love sheep and were curious about the California Red Breed. We brought four ewes who participated in the sheep shearing demonstration and left happily wearing much less than they arrived in. We've already made a list of things we want to improve on for next year for our display and meeting the requests of the people who came through the barn. We hope to see you there!
